I don't know what to say.

It violates two rules of magic.

No fraction damage.

A card better than shock in this environment is too good :P

I think I like it.

there is a small problem with this though... what exactly would it do? There are no rules to cover fractional damage.

Not to mention that the fractional damage is really just useless anyway.

Precisely, fractional damage is useless, therefore, the card just deals "2 damage." At least, nothing would make it matter anyway, it's just fun.

Well, we could decide to print a creature with fractional toughness...

That, and if you cast two Lightning Shocks on a creature during the turn, that creature takes 5 damage, not 4. So it is slightly strictly better than Shock, but not much. We could always make it 2.25 damage or something if we didn't want to make it too "overpowered".

When this goes to 'chop, it should be chopped with a fraction, not a decimal. LOL.

I don't think this card even warrants a chop actually.

Yet all my fractional cards were ignored. Sigh, oh well.

We COULD do a cycle of fractional cards, making them a tad more useful.

Black could be something like "Target player looses half of his or her life, do not round up or down."

White could be "Prevent the next 2.5 damage that would be dealt to target player or creature."

Green could be "Target creature get's +2.5/+2.5 until end of turn."

Blue could get... I have no idea what blue would get, actually. You can't draw .5 cards or counter a spell unless you pay 2.5 mana... Ummmm, I seriouslyt do not know.

Check the prodigal mathematician thread. I have no idea where that is right now, but they're in there.

Some ideas:

Lightning Shock
R
Instant
Lightning Shock does 5/2's damage to target creature or player.

Giantish Growth
G
Instant
Target creature gets +5/2's/+5/2's until end of turn.

Healing Goop
W
Instant
Gain 5/2's life or prevent the next 5/2's damage dealt to target creature or player this turn.

Song of Torach
B
Instant
Target player loses 3/2 life and you gain 3/2 life.

Might Leak
1U
Instant
Counter target spell unless that spell's controller pays 5/2.

Of course this is a version using improper fractions...might be better to use mixed number versions?

This should not be a cycle. Just the one.
